As a Security Guard - Full Time - Afternoons in Cedar Rapids, IA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Manufacturing & Industrial, and more. Join Allied Universal at a manufacturing and industrial location where you will support access control by greeting visitors, verifying credentials, managing entry and exit points, and logging activity with clear communication. You will conduct routine rounds nearby, remain visible to help to deter security-related incidents, and provide customer service to employees and contractors. You will work with a caring team that stays agile, reliable, and innovative, always acting with integrity.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to site personnel and visitors by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities as needed.
  • Control access at entry points by verifying identification and/or credentials, issuing visitor passes, maintaining entry and exit logs, and directing visitors to designated areas within an industrial location.
  • Screen and process vehicles and deliveries by checking driver identification, shipment documentation, and/or inbound and outbound routing requirements in accordance with site policies.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, communicating observations to site contacts and Allied Universal leadership and documenting actions taken.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and/or access control systems, report unusual activity that may help to deter unauthorized entry, and complete required reports and shift documentation.
