About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide security services for the Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System (WCH), Twelve Clans Unity Hospital, located in Winnebago, Nebraska. Assure protection of the Hospital real property, and provide safety for staff, patients, and visitors on the property. Security personnel must generally operate within the guidelines of the Security Management Plan.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associates degree preferred;
  • One year of documented security experience is preferred.
  • Documented self-defense or similar training required.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for up to eight hours per shift.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in all emergency type situations
  • Knowledge of standardized rules, procedures, methods and operation to perform a full range of security work independently.
  • Ability to restrain uncooperative and belligerent individuals without causing physical harm to the intruder or violator.
  • Skill in report writing, patrol procedures, and communication techniques to complete daily assignments.
  • Knowledge of alarm and electronic monitoring systems operations and how to interpret signals, alarm messages and other outputs.
  • Must be willing to pursue training as directed by your supervisor; must be willing to cross-train in all functional areas of the housekeeping department.
  • Work requires regular recurring physical exertion, such as long periods of walking, standing, bending, stooping; reaching and similar activities; a physical examination is required.
  • While performing daily duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
  • Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.
  • All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section 1301.31, C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate WCHS’s core mission, vision and values
  • Conducts periodic foot patrols checking buildings and grounds for incidents of trespass, theft, fire, accidental or willful damage or destruction of property. Ensures entrance doors, locks, and windows are properly secured and not tampered with. Logs date and time of patrols and reports any unusual events and findings. Patrols are conducted every hour on the hour during each shift.
  • Monitors clinic, employee, and GSA parking lot; identifies vehicles parked in restricted and/or reserved areas, such as fire hydrants, driveways, ambulance entrances, handicapped areas, and etc. Requests owner to move improperly parked vehicle(s) or contacts towing company if owner is nonresponsive.
  • Assist visitors and patients by providing information, directing to clinics or other programs as requested, answering questions regarding hospital rules and regulations, visiting hours, parking, speed limit requirements and similar activities which require explanation to be compliant with policies and regulations.
  • Reports fires, accidents, hazards, and any unusual conditions or malfunctions of heating, plumbing, or electrical systems to management.
  • Responds to announcements of any emergency situation (i.e. weather, safety, etc.), as outlined in policy.
  • Controls access to premises by monitoring staff and visitors, randomly verifying identification badges, investigate questionable credentials, and escorting questionable personnel out of the building and reporting such incidents.
  • Respond when called to assist with disturbed and belligerent patients and/or visitors. Assesses situations and assists as needed within the scope of facility policy; calls local law enforcement for assistance if circumstances require it.
  • Responds to Emergency Room situation or disturbances as needed; calls local law enforcement for assistance if required.
  • Responds to trouble alarms when building and grounds personnel are not present.
  • Responds to helicopter pad to assist with helicopter landings and take-offs.
  • Monitors cameras and facility activity when in security office.
  • Attend training as required.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively with other employees and staff
  • Other duties as assigned.
