As a Security Officer - Campus - Full Time in Chicago, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at an education location, you will conduct routine foot and vehicle patrols, stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and support students, staff, and visitors with professional customer service. This is a driving post requiring a valid driver’s license. At Allied Universal, you will work with a caring team that acts with integrity, adapts quickly, and uses smart, innovative practices to help maintain a welcoming campus environment.

Requirements

  • Provide proof of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of academic buildings, common areas, residence hall exteriors, parking areas, and perimeter routes to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations.
  • Monitor access points and observe campus activity, reporting maintenance concerns, suspicious behavior, and/or hazards through established communication and documentation channels.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with campus personnel and/or public emergency responders as directed by post orders.
  • Complete detailed shift activity reports, incident reports, and log entries, and communicate pertinent information to incoming officers and/or site leadership.
