As an Access Control Officer at a cultural institution, you will greet guests and staff, manage entry points, verify credentials, and monitor visitor flow while conducting routine patrols of assigned areas. You will remain highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents, respond to concerns with clear communication, and deliver service that reflects Allied Universal being agile, reliable, innovative, team focused, and always acting with integrity.

Requirements

  • Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, volunteers, and/or clergy by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a cultural institution location.
  • Staff an access control post by monitoring entrances, greeting and screening visitors, verifying credentials and/or tickets, issuing visitor badges, and controlling access to restricted areas.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalating conflicts and coordinating notifications to site leadership and/or public responders as required by post orders.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and/or communication systems; document unusual activity, access issues, and incidents in detailed reports and logs.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility, galleries, and/or perimeter to help to deter unauthorized access and report maintenance concerns, suspicious behavior, and policy violations.
