As a Patrol Unarmed Security Officer at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and remain highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents. You will interact with residents, staff, and visitors with respectful customer service, clear communication, and steady professionalism while documenting observations and reporting concerns. Requirements

  • A New York State Security Guard License is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of security-related experience is required.
  • Proof of a high school diploma and/or GED is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • The ability to lift more than 20 lbs is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, staff, and visitors by following site-specific security-related procedures, access control policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, using de-escalation techniques and requesting assistance from site leadership and/or emergency services as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the location, including common areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter areas, observing and reporting unusual activity or hazards.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and other security-related systems when assigned, and document incidents, observations, and patrol activity in written reports and/or electronic logs.
  • Support shelter operations by helping to manage visitor check-in, directing individuals to appropriate resources, and maintaining professional communication with residents and staff.
