About The Position

Under the direction of the Security Supervisor, the Security Officer L1 is responsible for the administrative and operational duties associated with a site security team. This role works closely with the Data Center Operations Team (DCOPS) to ensure that security measures are in place and functioning properly. The Security Officer Level 1 is an experienced client-facing security officer who utilizes clear and concise communication. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the protection of personnel and company property, managing access control, monitoring CCTV systems, responding to incidents, and completing written reports. Team members are expected to collaborate with other departments to assist with matters about the efficient operation of the data center, including Shipping & Receiving. The position enforces and adheres to security procedures based on policies determined by the Security Management team. Your vigilance and attention to detail will contribute to maintaining a secure environment for the NTT Data Center customer and the infrastructure.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required. Additional education or training in security-related fields is a plus.
  • Six (6) months in a security role, or equivalent combination of education and professional background.
  • Experience with standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment for the security team.
  • Strong observation and surveillance skills, with the ability to detect and respond to security threats effectively.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules.
  • Ability to remain calm in an emergency.
  • Excellent customer service in a client-facing environment
  • Excellent ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal methods with clients, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Ability to operate in a rigorous process-driven team environment.
  • Ability to logically analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Possession of relevant certifications such as Certified Security Guard (CSG) or Certified Protection Officer (CPO). As a condition of employment, you are required to possess active certifications such as Certified Security Guard (CSG) or Certified Protection Officer (CPO) as mandated by state regulations, to be obtained within six months of commencing employment and maintained throughout your tenure as a mandatory requirement.
  • A valid driver's license is required as employees will need to support tasks in nearby buildings and utilize company vehicles to complete assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a data center or similar environment is a plus.
  • Prior experience in the administration and operation of access control systems, CCTV systems with digital recording, and photo ID systems preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification preferred or can be obtained working for NTT.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all employees, clients, vendors, and visitors on company property have proper company-issued identification.
  • Patrols assigned post on foot to maintain visibility and observes possible unusual activity.
  • Ensures that the client, its associates, and NTT Data Center personnel are provided with a safe and professional work environment.
  • Investigates, addresses, and reports security, maintenance, and safety conditions.
  • Ensures Complete daily administrative documentation is concise and complete at all times.
  • Maintains assigned equipment is functional and in presentable condition.
  • Adherence to NTT Data policy and security procedure manuals, in addition to Company policies.
  • Assist personnel with requests.
  • Completes audit assignments as directed by supervisory/management staff.
  • Assists with Shipping and Receiving tasks as necessary.
  • Responds to all site emergencies and coordinates with local emergency services.
  • Investigates and reports fires, evacuations, hazardous situations/other facility-related events.
  • Maintains familiarity with Security procedures and policies in addition to Company policies.
  • Thoroughly investigates all security-related accidents/incidents, interviews witnesses, complaints, and victims; gather and preservation of property.
  • Guide personnel on security processes and protocols to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in the initial training of new Officers as assigned.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
