About The Position

As a Security Officer - Proactive Unarmed Patrol in Long Island City, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Residential, Shelter, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal, you will monitor and patrol residential buildings and shelter locations, completing routine rounds and maintaining a visible presence that can help reduce security-related incidents. You will support access control, observe and report concerns, and provide responsive customer service to residents, guests, and staff. Requirements

  • A New York State Security Guard License is required.
  • At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, staff, visitors, and/or vendors by following site-specific, security-related procedures and policies, including access control and visitor management.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout residential and shelter areas, including common spaces, hallways, entrances, and perimeter areas to help to deter unwanted activity and identify unusual conditions.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including verbal de-escalation, contacting site leadership, and/or requesting public emergency services when appropriate.
  • Monitor alarms, doors, gates, and other access points, reporting malfunctioning equipment, unsecured areas, and/or policy concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Document shift activity, incidents, and patrol observations in written reports and/or electronic logs, and communicate pertinent information during shift turnover.
