About The Position

As a Security Officer - Research Institute Patrol in La Jolla, CA , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at an education and research location, you will conduct routine foot and vehicle patrols, support access control and badge checks, and respond to incidents with clear communication and customer service. This is a driving post requiring a valid driver’s license. You will represent an agile, reliable, and innovative team that puts people first, works together, and acts with integrity while helping reduce security-related issues.

Requirements

  • Have a minimum of 2 years of security-related experience.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • A guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including contacting appropriate personnel and/or emergency services as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of academic and research buildings, common areas, parking areas, and the perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and to identify security-related concerns.
  • Monitor access points and visitor activity as assigned, helping to verify authorization, provide directions, and report suspicious behavior according to site procedures.
  • Complete detailed incident reports, patrol logs, and other required documentation, and communicate relevant information to site leadership and Allied Universal supervision.
