As a Screener with Allied Universal at a higher education location, you will help support a welcoming campus environment by monitoring entry points, screening visitors, and assisting with access procedures. You will perform routine patrols and maintain a visible presence that can help reduce security-related incidents, while providing clear communication and customer service to students, staff, and guests. Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Alarm panel experience preferred.
  • Be comfortable using computer or tablet preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, staff, visitors and/or vendors by following site-specific security-related procedures, access control policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct screening at designated entry points using walkthrough metal detectors, handheld wands and/or bag inspection procedures in accordance with post orders and local requirements.
  • Verify identification, support visitor check-in processes, issue temporary credentials when authorized and direct individuals to appropriate campus destinations.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, requesting assistance from campus resources and/or emergency services as needed.
  • Complete required logs and reports, communicate noteworthy activity to site leadership and help to deter prohibited items and/or unauthorized access through consistent screening practices.
