About The Position

As a Security Officer - Unarmed Field Patrol in Chicago, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at an education-focused cultural location, you will monitor and patrol galleries and public areas, complete routine rounds, and maintain a visible presence that helps to deter security-related incidents. You will greet guests and staff, provide clear directions and assistance, and communicate concerns promptly. Requirements

• The client requires proof of a high school diploma and/or GED.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• A guard card and/or license is preferred.
• CPR certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to staff, students, faculty, and/or visitors by carrying out Allied Universal and site-specific procedures, access control practices, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting actions taken and promptly notifying site leadership and/or Allied Universal management as required.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout academic and public areas, galleries and exhibit spaces, offices, and the perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations.
• Monitor entrances, restricted areas, and visitor flow, verifying credentials and/or passes as directed and assisting with directions, wayfinding, and general inquiries.
• Complete detailed reports and logs, communicate observations during shift change, and coordinate with site personnel and/or local responders as needed.
