About The Position

As a Security Officer - Unarmed Patrol Guardian in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, stay visible to help reduce incidents, and support residents, staff, and visitors through clear communication and customer service. Requirements

  • Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
  • Possess at least 1+ years of security-related experience.
  • Client requires proof of HS Diploma/GED.
  • Be 21+ years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

  • X-Ray Screening Experience - preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and staff by following site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and post orders, and by assisting with routine questions and directions.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the shelter location and exterior perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity, identify maintenance or policy issues, and report concerns to site leadership.
  • Monitor access points and common areas, verifying identification and/or authorization as required, managing visitor sign-in processes, and controlling entry and exit in accordance with site procedures.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, using verbal de-escalation techniques, requesting additional support when needed, and completing required notifications.
  • Document security-related activities, incidents, and observations in reports and logs, and communicate relevant information during shift transitions to support continuity of operations.
