Role Summary Security Officer's primary responsibility is to protect people, property and information belonging to the company while handling the client needs. Protect company properties, employees, and assets by patrolling buildings and grounds. Provide protective escorts as needed or upon request. Provide traffic control and parking enforcement. Investigate safety and security incidents when assigned. Complete incident reports and other required documents as needed. Monitor security video surveillance systems, access control systems and other related alarm, security or fire safety equipment. Respond according to departmental procedures. Respond to safety and security calls in accordance to departmental procedures. Monitor compliance of safety and security regulations as outlined by OSHA, State and Federal regulations. This role reports to Assistant Director, Security. This onsite position will be based out of our Kansas City, Missouri office. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.

Requirements

  • Must have good interpersonal skills. A friendly personality is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to read a computer screen, operate a computer terminal, various electronic security equipment, two way radio system, and telephone.
  • Be able to type a minimum of 35-40 words a minute.
  • Ability to work with various types of safety and security equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written form.
  • Experience with various computer software programs, with the ability to quickly understand and operate new software programs.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a sensitive manner.
  • Ability to react calmly in emergency and dangerous situations.
  • Ability to deal with uncooperative or combative individuals.
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a continuously changing environment.
  • Ability to obtain a CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Ability to work varied shifts and overtime as required
  • One year security or equivalent experience required, preferably in a corporate or client-related field.
  • At least 21 years of age required.
  • A current Kansas City, Missouri Police Department Private Officer’s Commission license or qualified to obtain appropriate KCPD license.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
  • High School diploma required and 2 years of college preferred.
  • Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of access control, video surveillance, firefighting equipment and first aid equipment required.
