Location: The Semiconductor Materials Site Quality Manager, Thin Films is an on-site position located in Carlsbad, CA with 5% domestic and international to meet business needs. Your Role: You will be leading the next generation precursor Thin Films materials to enable the innovation to the digital age. This position is located in Carlsbad, California USA and will be responsible for a team of quality professionals that engage in R&D, SVM, and HVM activities to our customers worldwide.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or other Technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, process engineering, control engineering, analytical chemist, or semiconductor fabrication experience
  • Leadership, coaching and team building skills

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple activities and projects.
  • Moderate to Advanced Statistical knowledge (SPC, t-test, ANOVA, single and multivariate statistical modelling)
  • Experience in quality tools for problem solving (5Whys, segmentation, Model Based Problem Solving), FMEAs, continuous improvement (CI) activities, management of change, and document control systems.
  • Proficient with data science/statistical software including JMP, Palantir Foundry, Python, and/or visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Experience with process improvement, data automation, and data digitization.
  • Excellent communication skills–oral and written
  • Ability to work with people from various backgrounds/cultures
  • Experience within the semiconductor industry, highly automated factory controls environment, and/or in-depth Thin Films application in the semiconductor industry
  • Experience with ISO9001 Quality Management Systems
  • ISO9001 or IATF 16949 Internal Auditor Certification
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • SAP experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Quality engineers in the execution and quality of thin films materials at the Carlsbad facility to major semiconductor customers globally
  • Lead cross-functional teams in resolving technology issues
  • Lead investigations to root cause and manage cross-functional teams in implementation of preventative/corrective or mitigation actions to ensure best in class quality.
  • Be the persistent voice of the customer to the site
  • Be accountable to the business in maintaining Thin Films quality performance and drive continuous improvement at the sites by driving collaboration with Site and global functional groups.
  • Ensure discipline to process controls tools to ensure (e.g. SPC reviews) quality, identify continuous improvement opportunities, and variation reduction.
  • Identify and enable automation activities to make decisions faster, improve quality controls, and streamline operations/manufacturing processes.
  • Be key voting member to disposition discrepant material, identifying gaps in the process, and managing cross-functional teams to implement controls to prevent/reduce variation
  • Lead and/or delegate Quality related Audits at the sites
  • Contribute and support to the advancement of global quality related projects, process improvements with Lean and/or Six Sigma, and internal/customer related data-driven process optimization projects.
  • Lead Site quality culture, quality structure, process transfer, and activities from NPI to SVM (small volume manufacturing) to HVM (high volume manufacturing)
