The Team You’ll Work With: The Mayor's Office of State Legislative Affairs serves as the principal liaison between Mayor Eric Adams' Administration and the New York State Legislature. State Legislative Affairs works toward the goal of fostering productive relationships between the executive and legislative branches and assists the Mayor's administration in developing and advancing the Administration’s agenda through State law and the State budget. The Problems You’ll Solve: The Senior Advisor will report to the Director of City Legislative Affairs. Duties of the Senior Advisor are, but are not limited to: - Serve as a liaison between State and Administration officials, and relevant Mayoral agencies and offices, to oversee projects, and develop and implement strategic outreach to elected officials and advocates in furtherance of Mayoral goals. - Coordinate with agencies, boards, commissions, organizations, and institutions relevant to Administration goals and policy initiatives, meet project goals and timelines, and review agency and interagency work product. - Provide administrative support and coordination, including preparation of correspondence and briefing memoranda, background research, and information for the Director of City Legislative Affairs. - Researching local, state, and federal laws, court decisions, and other legal documents, and working with the NYC Law Department to determine legal implications for various policy needs. About You: - You can work independently and within a fast-paced environment, as well as thrive in a collaborative and supportive team environment. - You are a self-starter who positively contributes to a learning culture and collaborative team and is willing to perform the full range of tasks required in a dynamic and rapidly responsive organization. - You can quickly absorb complex technical concepts and brief senior staff across City Hall. - You have thorough knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. - You have exceptional written, oral communication, and presentation skills. - You have experience working with the agencies in the portfolio, a strong plus. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 8+ years of experience.
  • You can work independently and within a fast-paced environment, as well as thrive in a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • You are a self-starter who positively contributes to a learning culture and collaborative team and is willing to perform the full range of tasks required in a dynamic and rapidly responsive organization.
  • You can quickly absorb complex technical concepts and brief senior staff across City Hall.
  • You have thorough knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • You have exceptional written, oral communication, and presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • You have experience working with the agencies in the portfolio, a strong plus.
