About The Position

Odyssey Systems is recruiting to fill a Senior Airworthiness Engineer (FMS) position supporting the ISR Sensors Division (AFLCMC/WIN), at Wright Patterson AFB, OH. WIN is part of the ISR/SOF Directorate (AFLCMC/WI), who is responsible for equipping our warfighters to win the fight. The Directorate executes a $22 billion acquisition portfolio developing, producing, testing, modifying, fielding, and supporting Air Force ISR and SOF platforms, and related sub-systems. Program description: The ISR/SOF Directorate has the collective Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) mission responsibility for equipping ISR & SOF warfighters to dominate the battlespace. Requirements

  • Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
  • Clearance: Secret
  • Education and Years of Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and eight years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, three of which must be in the DoD.
  • OR, 15 years of directly related experience, eight of which must be in the DoD.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or Doctorate Degree in a related field and ten years of experience in the respective technical / professional discipline being performed, five years of which must be in the DoD.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience with Title 14 CFR regulations
  • Minimum 5 years experience working for or with an FAA Certification Organization or Organization Designation Authorization.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with FAA Part 145 processes, or equivalent repair station processes.
  • Minimum of 3 years working with FAA Quality Assurance processes.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with the USG aircraft and project certification process, including familiarity with the MIL-HDBK-516.
  • Advanced level of understanding in Airworthiness practices, policies, standards, and procedures for all domestic, foreign, military, and civil Technical Airworthiness Authorities across the customer base, e.g., FAA, EASA, ICAO.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in an engineering/technical organization with strict document control
  • Have completed or can complete AFIT Airworthiness course completions. DAIR 116, DAIR 216, WKSP 0691, DAIR 316 within 18 months.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Technical Leadership and Oversight and serve as the primary technical authority and subject matter expert (SME) for all engineering aspects of assigned CDA platforms.
  • Providing aircraft engineering technical insight of airworthiness development effort and assist the program office in implementing aircraft system engineering responsibilities
  • Assess the viability of the system design and its ability to meet airworthiness requirements, as well as, identify and resolve any issues on aircraft performance requirements.
  • Lead multiple US Government certification and airworthiness activities.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable engineering standards, regulations, and DoD Instructions, Department of Air Force (DAF) Policy Directives, DAF Instructions, and associated DAF Airworthiness Bulletins and Airworthiness Circulars to ensure adherence to FAA airworthiness regulations, e.g., 14 CFR FAA Part 23 and Part 25.
