Senior API 610 Pump Overhaul Technician
About The Position
When an API pump goes down, you’re the expert who brings it back to spec. As a Senior API 610 Pump Overhaul Technician in Southeast Houston, you’ll lead complex tear-downs, diagnose issues with rotating equipment, and return units to reliable service. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity with competitive hourly pay and flexible day or night shifts. Location, Pay & Schedule Location: Southeast Houston Pay: $35–$45 per hour Hours: Day & Night Shift Available — 6:00am–4:30pm or 4:00pm–2:30am, Monday to Sunday with rotating weekends Duration: Temp-to-hire A Day in the Shop You’ll receive a pump straight from the field, review the work order and drawings, and plan the rebuild. You’ll disassemble and inspect components, identify failure modes, perform precision shaft and coupling alignments, and reassemble to API 610 standards. You’ll finish with testing and detailed documentation before the unit ships back out.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience troubleshooting and repairing API pumps and rotating equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
- Strong, working knowledge of API 610 standards
- Hands-on experience with precision measurement tools and laser alignment systems
- Proficiency in mechanical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repairs, and complete overhauls on API pumps and related rotating equipment
- Disassemble, inspect, and diagnose mechanical issues and wear patterns
- Execute precision shaft and coupling alignments
- Reassemble and function-test pumps prior to release
- Create and maintain thorough records of inspections, repairs, and test results
