About The Position

The Application IT Developer IV analyzes, models, writes/modifies, and supports software source code that enables business capabilities, following established Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes. They provide primary legacy platform support (COBOL on HP3000) that keeps high-volume file, print, and PDF production running reliably, while supporting Vericast’s transition away from HP3000 by answering process/COBOL job questions for migration teams and, where skills align, assisting with related ETL/Python-based migration development.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
4+ years with Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years work experience; hands-on COBOL/HP3000 experience supporting file-based, high-volume production environments strongly preferred.
Strong COBOL programming expertise on HP3000.
Experience with HP3000 IMAGE databases.
Proficiency with Robelle tools (SuperTool, Qedit, MPEX).
Solid JCL knowledge for batch processing, automation, and production workflows.
Experience using ad hoc query tools for data analysis and validation.
Working knowledge of POSIX/Apache in HP3000 or hybrid environments.
Proven support of print production and file-based processing workflows; familiarity with banking/retail/marketing campaign contexts.
Awareness of postal software/tools (e.g., BCC, Code1) and postal compliance/reporting.
Excellent troubleshooting and data analysis; attention to detail in deadline-driven, high-volume production.
Clear communication and facilitation across technical/business teams; ability to translate legacy logic into modern design language.

Nice To Haves

Experience with ETL tools or data integration frameworks (designing mappings, orchestration, job monitoring).
Python for data parsing, transformation, reconciliation, and automation; familiarity with packaging and logging for production use.
Experience in hybrid legacy/modern environments and an appetite to learn new technologies as part of platform modernization.
Strong documentation/knowledge-sharing to reduce single points of failure and provide PTO coverage.
