Senior Associate, Software Engineering: UI/UX

About the position

In this role, you will contribute to our AI-driven front-end development initiatives at OCC, helping to enhance our product interfaces through AI integration. You will work with our team to develop and implement AI-enhanced user interfaces, focusing on creating responsive and intelligent UI components that improve user experience. You'll collaborate with senior developers and AI engineers to build adaptive UI systems that incorporate machine learning features for personalization.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of AI-enhanced user experiences, implementing natural language interfaces, intelligent components, and adaptive interfaces that respond to user behavior and AI model outputs.
• Design and implement effective prompt engineering interfaces and tools that facilitate collaboration between users and AI systems.
• Apply and help refine best practices in AI-driven UX design with focus on human-AI interaction patterns, conversational interfaces, and appropriate balance between automation and user control.
• Support the development and maintenance of AI component libraries for interactions such as chatbots, intelligent forms, and visualization of AI decision-making processes.
• Build interfaces that properly handle AI uncertainty, confidence levels, and error states to build user trust through appropriate transparency and information disclosure.
• Implement frameworks for multi-modal AI interactions following established patterns for context-aware interfaces and real-time AI feedback mechanisms.
• Assist in developing and adhering to AI interface guidelines that ensure consistent, intuitive, and accessible experiences across features.
• Create UI components that enable smooth transitions between automated AI processes and manual user interactions, with clear affordances for user intervention.

Requirements

• Proficiency with UI development.
• Proficiency with high-level concepts behind modern JavaScript frameworks and the ability to execute project work as needed, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Single SPA.
• Experience with Git, Agile and CI/CD techniques and deployment strategies preferred.
• Strong knowledge of testing tools like Jest and React Testing Library.
• Ability to effectively and confidently communicate (both verbally and written) technical issues in a clear, collaborative and open-minded manner with both technical and non-technical peers.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in using front-end observability tools to monitor, troubleshoot and identify performance issues.
• Knowledge of authentication/authorization models as it relates to Single SPA and Single Client Exterior (ex. OIDC integration).
