Your work environment at EXP In this role, you will be a part of the Infrastructure – Transportation business practice in the Mid Atlantic Sector, based in Charleston, WV. As Lead Bridge Engineer, the ideal candidate will lead the design, analysis, and rehabilitation of complex bridge and infrastructure projects. In addition, the candidate will ensure technical quality and compliance (QA/QC), mentor junior staff, and interact with clients and government agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of bridge or structural design experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in WV is required.
  • Experience with foundation analysis and design.
  • Proficient with Bentley’s MicroStation & OpenBridge Designer.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Master’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with on-site inspection, analysis and condition assessment of existing structures.
  • Develop complex bridge designs (steel, concrete, prestressed), load ratings, and rehabilitation plans using software tools.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables for transportation projects, often serving as the engineer of record.
  • Review design calculations, technical reports, and construction drawings for accuracy and compliance with WVDOT/federal standards.
  • Act as a technical lead, communicating with clients, stakeholders, and sub-consultants to meet project needs.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Perform analysis and design calculations according to the applicable design codes and standards.
  • Organize design calculations and assist with project construction administration including reviews of shop drawings and requests for information.
