About The Position

The Senior Business Analyst plays a pivotal role in designing and improving how faculty, staff, students, and affiliates access university spaces and systems through UT Austin’s digital identity and card access ecosystem. This position facilitates requirements gathering, process mapping, and workflow analysis to define both current and future-state models that support a modern, secure, and user-centered identity environment. The Senior Business Analyst partners across technical and operational teams to advance initiatives related to identity lifecycle management, access controls, system integrations, and operational readiness. They develop clear, structured documentation, support governance processes, and establish meaningful metrics to track milestones, performance, and program success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a business analyst, systems analyst, or in a similar role supporting IT or compliance initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex business processes, gather requirements, and translate them into technical or compliance solutions.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience executing a large-scale engagement and change management plan supporting diverse stakeholder groups with potentially opposing needs and perspectives.
  • Proficiency with business analysis and project tools (e.g., process mapping, requirements documentation, JIRA, Confluence, or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience creating business cases and managing financials.
  • U.S. Citizen, resident, or officially recognized asylee - Applicant selected will be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Business Analysis: Manage Digital ID use case tracker to ensure all reported touchpoints are identified and represented in the workplan.
  • Support requirements gathering efforts, translating stakeholder needs into clear, documented business and functional requirements that inform system design, integrations, and implementation priorities.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and success metrics that provide visibility into adoption, performance, and operational health for stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation of executive-level briefings, business cases, financial analyses, and governance materials to guide strategic decision-making and program advancement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with the ET Strategic Relations and Engagement Office (SREO) to support the execution of the Digital ID Engagement plan.
  • Coordinate faculty, staff, and student stakeholder working groups, document business needs, and translate into actionable technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with the ET Communications team regarding planning and communication around executing engagement activities.
  • Support Enterprise Technology leadership in resource alignment.
  • Project Support & Coordination: Facilitate coordination across technical and business teams to ensure consistent handling of requirements.
  • Document interdependencies between workstreams and ensure they are clearly communicated and managed.
  • Act as a central point of contact for requirements and documentation.
  • Business Process Improvement: Analyze workflows and recommend process improvements to strengthen efficiency, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Document business processes and share best practices to ensure consistent application across workstreams.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned.
