About The Position

We are seeking a strategic, execution‑oriented Senior Business Planner to support the Cybersecurity, IT, and Data Engineering organization. This role reports to the Chief of Staff and partners closely with senior leaders, cross‑functional stakeholders, and other planners in the organization to ensure an integrated approach to communications, talent enablement, and operations. This role will take on a mix of strategic and tactical work from the Chief of Staff, including: Owning and executing our organizational communications strategy and rhythm (including All People Meetings), in tight partnership with our communication partners and planners. Designing and improving how we communicate strategy, goals, and progress in a way all employees can understand and act on. Drives high‑impact strategic work by clarifying ambiguous problems and independently executing solutions in a fast-moving, transformational setting The ideal candidate combines strong organizational and project management capability with structured problem‑solving, clear storytelling, and the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in business planning, strategy, organizational communications, or operations; automotive or technology industry experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and executing organizational communications and/or leading strategic initiatives for senior leaders.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a data‑driven mindset; able to translate complex information into clear insights and narratives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, storytelling, and presentation skills; adept at simplifying complexity for broad audiences.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior‑level executives and cross‑functional partners.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, dynamic, and often ambiguous environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in cybersecurity, IT, or data/analytics organizations.
  • Prior experience in a Chief of Staff, business planning, strategy, or communications‑focused role.
  • Experience working closely with Engineering Business Managers, Finance, or PMO in a large, matrixed organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute an integrated organizational communications strategy for Cybersecurity, IT, and Data Engineering.
  • Own APM planning and delivery end-to-end, including storyline, content creation, speaker preparation, logistics, feedback collection, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and manage a communications calendar and narrative arc that connects strategy, priorities, and progress across the year.
  • Manage and continually improve internal communication channels, including email, Slack, SharePoint, and Confluence, ensuring the right messages reach the right audiences.
  • Plan and execute large‑scale leadership and employee engagement events, such as All People Meetings, culture‑building sessions, and employee forums.
  • Partner with HR and our other planners to ensure our leaders receive clear communication and signals on upcoming programs that require awareness and action (ie – performance management cycles, annual required trainings, etc).
  • Partner with the Chief of Staff to ensure our communication strategy supports our senior leadership talent strategy – helping our leaders and employees understand what is expected of them and how we intend to support them all in their growth journey with GM.
  • Partner with Chief of Staff and HR partners to analyze our organizational engagement, Workplace of Choice survey results, and other gathered employee insights, helping translate findings into action plans where required.
  • Plan and support connection and recognition moments (e.g., employee spotlights, key wins, forums, listening sessions) that help employees feel connected to their work, the enterprise, and their personal growth.
  • Jointly with the Staff Engineering Business Manager, identify and drive process and operating rhythm improvements that deliver measurable impact, improve how teams work together, or unlock new capabilities.
  • Act as a thought partner to the Chief of Staff and other planners on organizational effectiveness, operating model, and ways of working.
  • Assist in preparing executive‑ready presentations, reports, and briefing materials that tell a cohesive story using both qualitative and quantitative insights.
  • Collaborate with the PMO and program teams, as needed, to align storytelling and updates on key initiatives, without duplicating program management responsibilities.
  • Partner closely with the Engineering Business Manager on organizational artifacts (e.g., key wins, scorecards, workforce views, org presentations) to connect the data to clear narratives for leaders and employees.
