About The Position

Lead with Heart. Teach Resilience. Build Professionalism and Team Cohesion. You’ve mastered Case Management. Now, it’s time to lead the way. We are looking for a BHH Program Coordinator. This is more than just a job change; it is a career pivot. If you are an experienced Case Manager or a newly licensed clinician looking to sharpen your professional edge and step into a supervisory role, this is the opportunity you have been waiting for. Why We Need You: Case management requires grit, and at AWS, we believe leadership means showing up. We need a "boots on the ground" leader to round out our supportive team. You will work hand-in-hand with our Clinical Supervisors, who provide the clinical backbone, while you provide the operational muscle. This partnership ensures that every Care Coordinator feels seen, backed, and empowered to do their best work. You will serve as the vital bridge between our Clinical Supervisors and the daily operations of the team. While the Clinical Supervisors provide clinical oversight, you will be the operational mentor—teaching the skills necessary to sustain long-term commitment to clients, modeling healthy boundaries, and fostering a positive, collaborative and professional environment. Is This You? The Aspiring Leader: You have strong case management experience, solution focused mindset, strong concurrent documentation skills and are ready to mentor others. You want to enhance your professionalism and learn the operational side of care. The Culture Carrier: You understand that a Coordinator sets the tone. We need someone with a positive, resilient attitude who fosters deep connection within the team. The Organized Pro: You are ready to trade some direct client hours for high-level program oversight, quality assurance, and team support. The Role: A Hybrid of Leadership & Direct Engagement This position is designed to provide high-level operational support to our Care Coordinators while maintaining a presence in the field. Your goal is to build a team of professionals who are supported, skilled, and capable of navigating the complexities of behavioral health with dignity and respect.

Requirements

  • Required Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in case management or care coordination.
  • Soft Skills: Must demonstrate unconditional positive regard, expert boundary setting, and the ability to maintain morale in a high-paced environment.
  • Travel: Must be able to travel between our Portland office (2 days/week) and Biddeford office (3 days/week), with occasional statewide meetings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related behavioral health field preferred unless you have a significant equivalent between education and experience.
  • Master’s degree (MSW, MHC, or related) strongly preferred.
  • MHRT-C certification required (or obtained prior to start).
  • Minimum of three years of experience in behavioral health, including at least one year in a supervisory, lead, or program coordination role.
  • Demonstrated competence in integrated behavioral health models, care coordination, co-occurring conditions, and client-centered planning.
  • Administrative skills in strong ability to concurrently document efficiently, scheduling, efficient documentation review, onboarding, and interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and virtual communication platforms.
  • Must pass all applicable background checks (criminal, child protective, and sex offender registries) and not appear on any exclusion lists.
  • Valid Maine Driver’s License and a good driving record required.

Nice To Haves

  • Leadership: Previous management experience is a plus, but we are committed to training the right candidate with strong leadership potential.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Actively participate in group supervision, provide individual supervisions and provide daily "in-the-field" guidance to staff. You will have new employees shadow you to learn how to effectively fulfill their job responsibilities.
  • Program Intake & Flow: Work collaboratively with Access to manage referrals, conduct BHH intakes and support with caseload management.
  • Operational Excellence: Utilize dashboards to monitor compliance, coordinate staffing/scheduling, and participate in refining policies to improve workflow.
  • Direct Care (Lead by Example): Maintain a partial caseload to model high-quality service delivery for your team.
  • Community Engagement: Act as the face of the AWS BHH program at state meetings and community events.
