Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to join our team. This role will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for our client’s AWS environment. The ideal candidate is a proactive and autonomous professional who excels in managing cloud infrastructure, maintaining resources, and implementing cost-effective and efficient solutions. Working directly with the client, the Senior Cloud Engineer will ensure the environment is optimized, well-monitored, and cost-efficient while delivering expert recommendations for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a cloud engineering role, with a focus on AWS services.
  • Expert knowledge of AWS platform and services, including compute, storage, networking, and security.
  • Proven ability to monitor cloud environments, manage cost efficiencies, and optimize resource utilization at a production scale.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with client stakeholders at multiple levels of technical expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a trusted advisor, with a balanced approach to technical problem solving and client interfacing.
  • Experience with cloud monitoring tools and techniques.
  • Strong technical writing skills for creating operational documentation and IT-related requests.
  • Self-motivated and proactive problem-solver with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and client-facing communication skills.
  • Adaptable to changing cloud technologies and environments.
  • Dedication to continuous improvement and learning.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, monitor, and support the client’s AWS cloud environment, including installations and resource provisioning.
  • Proactively monitor resource usage, evaluate costs, and deliver strategies to optimize expenditures within the AWS environment.
  • Provide expert recommendations for improvement, addressing the client’s cloud infrastructure and identifying opportunities for greater efficiency and innovation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and SME for all cloud-related queries, ensuring alignment with the client’s business goals.
  • Work directly with client stakeholders to ensure cloud services meet operational requirements while adhering to security and compliance standards.
  • Draft and submit IT-related requests on behalf of the client, reducing operational overhead for the client’s internal teams.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting, incident response, and resolution for any issues related to the AWS environment.
  • Stay updated with AWS advancements and industry best practices, integrating new solutions into the existing environment as appropriate.
