Senior Collections Specialist
About The Position
Partnering with lessees to understand reasons for account delinquency and negotiating repayment plans or alternatives to repossession. Taking escalation calls and resolving complex collection or repossession situations. Locating and recovering assets using skip tracing tools and investigative techniques. Ensuring recovery operations comply with federal and state regulations, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). Documenting repossession activities, customer interactions, and asset condition accurately in internal systems. Assisting with training and mentoring team members on collections best practices and compliance standards. Staying current with internal policies and regulatory changes impacting collections and asset recovery. Managing a structured caseload independently while achieving productivity and quality targets. Collaborating with leadership on recovery strategies, reporting insights, and process improvements. Performing other duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in collections, account resolution, or customer contact roles
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage escalated or complex customer situations with professionalism
- Experience using skip tracing tools or investigative research platforms
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple accounts while maintaining compliance standards
Nice To Haves
- Experience in asset recovery, leasing, or financial services industries
- Training or certification in collections, skip tracing, or FDCPA compliance
- 5+ years of experience in collections or repossession roles
