About The Position

The Senior Commissioning Consultant 3 will be responsible for performing the full range of Commissioning (Cx) responsibilities on all building types including large, complex projects, in addition to leading retro-commissioning and energy and facility assessment projects. Tasks include preparing Cx plans and specifications, web-based project management and documentation (Cx Alloy), Cx design reviews, lead construction meetings, perform site observations, develop pre-functional checklists and functional tests, perform functional testing with contractors/owners, issue management, write Cx and related reports, and post occupancy follow-up activities.

Requirements

  • Strong oral and written skills and a proven ability to interact professionally with a wide a range of clients
  • Experienced knowledge of building envelope system designs and construction
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (CEC Title 24, ASHRAE, IECC, IBC, etc.)
  • Experienced in the review of construction documents (building envelope system drawings, specifications, etc.)
  • Knowledge of construction industry safety practices and procedures
  • Experienced in forensic analysis of envelope systems and condition assessments
  • Capable of self-performing or leading functional testing of building envelope systems and coordinates with other related test scopes.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Skilled with PDF editors (Bluebeam, Adobe), plus additional online project management software
  • Ability to travel up to 30% (travel will depend on project needs and may vary widely)
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Architecture, Construction Engineering, Building Science, or equivalent required
  • 14 years of experience minimum required, 16 preferred, in Building Envelope Commissioning or in the Building design/consulting/construction industry, or equivalent
  • License to practice architecture required
  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds
  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull
  • Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises
  • Ability to climb ladders and safely maneuver around construction sites

Responsibilities

  • Manage and/or support multiple commissioning projects including client interface, team coordination, schedule and budget management
  • Manage a minimum contract value of $1,000,000
  • Perform Cx reviews of construction documents and equipment submittals
  • Work effectively as a team member
  • Develop commissioning plans, reports, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance test procedures
  • Assist with functional testing of systems
  • Contribute to improving Cx processes and best practices
  • Perform technical analysis of building design, construction, and operation (envelope, MEP systems, etc.)
  • Proactively communicate with a wide range of client stakeholders
  • Perform jobsite field observations, write detailed field reports, and lead Cx meetings
  • Contribute to improving Cx processes and creating best practices
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
  • Supervise and mentor less experienced employees in a team-based atmosphere
