We are seeking a transportation project communications professional to assist with public engagement project management tracking, meeting coordination, and public information dissemination for transit and transportation initiatives in Osceola County. This role works closely with an in-house Quest public information officer and client leadership to ensure projects stay organized, communication remains clear, and community concerns are addressed consistently and thoughtfully. The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and comfortable juggling multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders. Experience supporting public-sector or transportation-related projects is strongly preferred, along with strong writing, organizational, and coordination skills. Familiarity with Central Florida communities and stakeholders is a plus. Bilingual is also a plus. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with one day in the office and in-person meetings as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in public information, or public relations, preferably supporting state or municipal agencies, or journalism covering transportation/ infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of transportation project development phases, from planning through construction.
  • Highly self-motivated, with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and lead efforts without constant direction.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and successfully complete multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience with digital and multimedia communications, including video production, websites, social media, signage, and graphic-driven campaigns.
  • Proven problem solver and go-getter with strong critical thinking skills and a solution-driven mindset.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail to identify and correct errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities with a significant degree of independence, initiative, creativity, and expert judgement.
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks
  • Talent for understanding, simplifying, and effectively communicating complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to analyze text for clarity, coherence, and consistency while ensuring it adheres to established guidelines and tone.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint) and collaboration/planning tools such as Monday.com, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting public-sector or transportation-related projects is strongly preferred, along with strong writing, organizational, and coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with Central Florida communities and stakeholders is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement community engagement plans to inform the public about transit and transportation projects, using a hands-on, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Field, mediate, and document issues from the public related to infrastructure projects.
  • Actively communicate project progress to residents, businesses, stakeholders, and media through written materials, public meetings, interviews, and presentations.
  • Take ownership of content creation, including shooting video, developing digital and educational content, and collaborating with graphics and video teams.
  • Design and maintain a positive public image for the organization and client.
  • Develop content for project websites and social media, posting alerts, updates, and timely information using best practices in digital communications.
  • Write, edit, and disseminate clear, concise, and informative materials, including press releases, traffic advisories, social media posts, newsletters, event briefs, etc.
  • Assist in developing and executing communication strategies during emergencies or incidents affecting transportation infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and support public relations activities, events, and outreach initiatives across Central Florida.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with community leaders, businesses, and organizations in Osceola County.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for public inquiries, providing clear, accurate, and timely information.
  • Leverage existing tools, platforms, and relationships to advance organizational and client goals efficiently and creatively.
  • Stay informed on community issues to advise the client of potential challenges.
  • Develop strategic alliances and partnerships.
  • Travel to construction field offices, project sites, and public meetings/events across the Central Florida area, with occasional travel to the Quest corporate offices in Land O’ Lakes and Lake Mary.
