About The Position

Much of the magic delivered from our products is the result of our controls system. As our Senior Controls Development Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing, testing, and implementing the electronic controls systems for Seakeeper products. You’ll contribute to our software development and work with our custom tools that include embedded hardware, Simulink-based auto code generation IDE (SeaCoder), and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) infrastructure to develop cutting-edge controls systems. You’ll make an immediate impact on our product development by: Designing and implementing control algorithms in MATLAB and Simulink to meet high-level functional requirements and perform your own data analysis Being the first line of defense in testing control algorithms both on custom simulation equipment from our factory in Leesport, PA, as well as on test boats on the water Analyzing data collected during testing in MATLAB and Simulink and making data-driven conclusions to suggest next steps and go-to-market plans Leading and refining the software release process for the Seakeeper product lineup Participating in software development items on Seakeeper’s custom tools (embedded hardware, Simulink-based auto code generation IDE (SeaCoder) and HIL) to contribute to the systems controls. Leading hydraulic system development, including component specification, testing, vendor technical management and integration in control system Leading FMEA and software functional safety discussions Mentoring and training junior Controls and Systems engineers

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
  • 4+ years of relevant professional work experience, in the following:
  • Scripting languages and demonstrated proficiency in applying them for the purposes of complex data analysis
  • Python, Javascript, C# are beneficial, but MATLAB language experience is preferred
  • Troubleshooting test hardware and wire harnesses using oscilloscopes and multimeters
  • Experience using MATLAB and Simulink with a focus on dynamics system simulation
  • Experience with hydraulic controls
  • Knowledge of hydraulic manifolds, including electro-mechanical valves and sensing components.
  • Experience using:
  • Motohawk or Raptor
  • Mototune or other automotive-style calibration tools
  • CAN bus diagnostic tools such as Vector CANalyzer
  • FMEA participation, including validation and verification activities
  • Includes setup, testing and reporting
  • Developing, testing, and bringing new products to market
  • Be comfortable wiring and being hands-on with the product (it’s going to be dirty sometimes!)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
  • 8+ years of relevant professional work experience
  • Experience using modeling tools such as Simscape fluid and multibody
  • Experience in the marine industry
