About the position

For over 14 years, 85SIXTY has been helping clients transform the way they reach, acquire and engage with their customers through an integrated combination of data, technology, cross-channel strategies, and creative thinking. Some might call us a full-service digital consultancy, but we like to think of ourselves as a partner that can both drive strategy and orchestrate delivery. Founded in 2010 by a veteran in retail, eCommerce, and digital, 85SIXTY was built around a consultative, high-touch approach that allows us to work across a broad spectrum of areas to increase our value to our customers. We are supporting today's forward-thinking brands in their journey towards growth, whether that be financially, operationally and/or strategically. Solving whatever is thrown our way and translating it into simple solutions is at the core of 85SIXTY. We are looking for team members who fit that ethos. 85SIXTY is looking for a Senior CRM Marketing Strategist to be responsible for bridging the gap between strategic planning and hands-on execution to deliver exceptional email and SMS marketing campaigns. This role involves guiding client relationships, leveraging data insights, ensuring regulatory compliance, and taking a proactive approach to continuous improvement. It demands a blend of high-level thinking, day-to-day execution, relationship management, and administrative planning to drive success for our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, resolving conflicts, setting clear expectations, and representing the company professionally.
  • Meet regularly with clients to present strategies, performance data, and recommendations (using tools like Google Slides or PowerPoint).
  • Serve as a proactive leader to both clients and team members, contributing to the CRM business unit and broader agency goals.

  • Manage content calendars, including briefs, scheduling, deployment, and ad hoc copy edits.
  • Develop client-specific strategies to drive acquisition, retention, and engagement, leveraging CRM/email marketing, SMS, and lead capture.
  • Use testing, segmentation, tagging, and behavioral targeting to nurture leads and maximize campaign engagement.
  • Continuously maintain awareness of best practices, regulations, and trends to refine strategies.
  • Track and analyze campaign results (weekly, monthly, quarterly) to inform data-driven improvements.
  • Report on successes, ROI, and key metrics, identifying areas for optimization and future testing.
  • Own the setup, segmentation, optimization, testing, and deployment of email/SMS campaigns in relevant platforms.
  • Partner with clients and internal stakeholders to scope new campaigns, gather needed materials, and resolve technical challenges.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in email marketing, marketing automation, marketing operations, or similar digital marketing work.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise and small-to-medium ESPs (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Klaviyo, Hubspot, Acoustic).
  • Hands-on email development: programming or editing responsive emails with HTML/CSS and experience creating digital campaigns.
  • Audience segmentation & optimization: experience testing, optimizing, and reporting on email marketing campaigns.
  • Technical fearlessness: ready to research solutions, make mistakes, learn, and vet new marketing technology to make strategic recommendations.
  • Client-facing communication: experience crafting and delivering professional presentations (Google Slides/PowerPoint), and comfortable working directly with clients.
  • Fast-paced environment & collaboration: hardworking, creative, and team-oriented, able to thrive in a dynamic setting with a keen creative sensibility, exceptional written/verbal communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to quickly iterate on new projects.
  • Data analysis skills: able to dig into large sets of data (interpret findings, analyze trends, recognize anomalies) and make testing recommendations.
  • Regulatory & best practices: understanding of CAN-SPAM, COPPA, GDPR, and CCPA laws, plus email industry best practices.
  • Prioritization & urgency: capable of effectively prioritizing tasks and operating with a sense of urgency.
  • Independence & teamwork: self-motivated, able to work independently, and comfortable in a decentralized team structure.
