About The Position

About Transportation Operational Analytics: The Transportation Operational Analytics team serves as the central analytics hub for Walmart’s Transportation organization, driving data-informed decisions across the network. Our mission is to deliver scalable analytical tools, actionable insights, and strategic solutions that empower both the Home Office and Field Support teams. We focus on: • Building dashboards and tools to monitor transportation KPIs and operational performance. • Supporting AOP savings initiatives through advanced analytics and optimization strategies. • Providing ad-hoc analytics for leadership to enable quick, informed decision-making. • Driving analytics for pilots and strategic initiatives, ensuring data-backed recommendations for future growth. As part of this team, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional partners, leverage cutting-edge technologies, and apply advanced analytics to solve complex transportation challenges—ultimately improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Expertise in SQL, Python, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Strong knowledge of data quality management, data governance, and database technologies
  • Experience applying statistical techniques and exploratory data analysis
  • Ability to translate business requirements into impactful data projects
  • Proven track record of delivering insights in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Arts, Finance or related field and 2 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field.
  • Option 2: Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • Option 3: 4 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Data Management & Quality - Extract and validate data from multiple sources; maintain scalable pipelines and architectures. Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with governance standards.
  • Analytics & Insights - Perform advanced analysis using SQL, Python, and statistical methods to uncover trends and opportunities. Build dashboards and translate complex data into actionable insights for efficiency and cost savings.
  • Business Partnership -Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define problems and align metrics. Communicate insights through clear storytelling and visualizations for diverse audiences.
  • Optimization & Continuous Improvement - Lead root cause analysis and recommend process enhancements. Identify and implement data-driven opportunities for operational efficiency.
  • Leadership & Technical Expertise - Mentor teams on data-driven decision-making and process improvements. Ensure data quality and governance for analytics and model deployment (e.g., GCP BigQuery).

  • The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $155,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
