ROLE SUMMARY We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Database Administrator to join our growing team. As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the stability, performance, and scalability of our cloud-based database systems. You will manage and optimize a wide array of data platforms, including Amazon RDS PostgreSQL and SQL Server), Amazon Redshift, and data replication frameworks like AWS DMS and Debezium. In close collaboration with engineering, DevOps, and SRE teams, you will help implement best practices for high availability, backup, automation, maintenance and disaster recovery across the organization. You should bring a strong track record in enterprise-level database performance management, installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, ideally in a cloud-focused environment
  • Expert-level knowledge of PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server administration
  • Proven experience managing Amazon RDS, Redshift, and cloud-based database solutions
  • Strong performance tuning and query optimization skills
  • Hands-on experience with database replication tools AWS DMS, Debezium preferred)
  • Proficient with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD practices (GitLab)
  • Solid understanding of issue tracking and agile processes Jira
  • Knowledge of AWS S3 for data storage and backup solutions
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with other relational or NoSQL technologies
  • Certifications in AWS and relevant data platforms
  • Knowledge of infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Exposure to data warehousing best practices in Redshift

Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain our RDS PostgreSQL, RDS SQL Server, and Redshift databases.
  • Implement best practices for database security, performance tuning, and backup/restore.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database performance and reliability issues.
  • Support schema changes, database upgrades, and patching processes.
  • Work with data replication tools, including AWS DMS and Debezium, to ensure consistent and efficient data movement.
  • Automate routine database maintenance tasks using scripting or orchestration tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams to align on CI/CD processes (e.g., GitLab pipelines).
  • Provide guidance on capacity planning and resource utilization.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery strategies, including backups to S3 and recovery testing.
  • Participate in incident management and on-call rotations as need
