About The Position

Our work depends on a Senior Developer joining our team to help support the United States Postal Service modernize a key legacy system, migrating from a mainframe environment to a web and mobile based application. GDIT is seeking a highly skilled Senior Developer with experience in Application Modernization to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in UI/UX design, particularly with a focus on Human-Centered Design (HCD) and must possess deep expertise in dynamic form building. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Computer Engineering, UI/UX Design or relevant computer-based major or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience in developing IT solutions and cloud infrastructures
  • Experience in software engineering and design architecture
  • Experience and understanding of best practices regarding system security measures
  • Experience with building and migration software and IT services to align to strategic business needs and goals
  • Experience in conducting research for advanced technologies to determine how IT can support business needs by leveraging software, hardware, or infrastructure
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven track record of delivering scalable and reliable software solutions
  • A portfolio demonstrating expertise in UI/UX design and relevant projects
  • Required Minimum of 7 years of strong experience in UX Design, including a deep understanding of UX Design Thinking and Principles
  • Experience with Data Structures and Algorithms
  • Experience with Java/Spring Boot microservices, Kafka, JPA, REST, Junit and Helm/Kubernetes
  • Proven experience in developing dynamic forms with emphasis on intuitive user experience and efficient design
  • Proficiency working with UX frameworks and templates
  • Ability to lead user testing and analysis sessions
  • Expertise in dynamic form building, with a strong background and extensive practical experience
  • Solid background in maintaining design standards
  • Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment using DevSecOps principles and tools
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
  • This position has a U.S. residency requirement. The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows: U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Java coding, architecture/design, quality goals, partnering with product owners to define actionable requirements, prototyping, driving engineering excellence, planning, estimating, and on-time delivery
  • Develop responsive web applications ensuring high performance and responsiveness
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to implement designs into functional user interfaces, adhering to best practices and design principles
  • Build reusable components and front-end libraries for future use
  • Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency in cloud environments
  • Ensure adherence to security and compliance best practices throughout the development lifecycle
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and code reviews to junior developers
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code
  • Mentor and coach junior developers, providing technical guidance and code reviews.
