About The Position

The Senior, Digital Strategy & Operations plays a pivotal role in defining Macy’s Digital vision, leading strategic planning cycles, and crafting communications for C-suite and board-level audiences. The Senior, Digital Strategy & Operations drives cross-functional initiatives, shapes initiative strategies, and advances organizational effectiveness. The role requires a blend of strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and exceptional communication skills to influence decisions at the highest levels of the organization. The Senior, Digital Strategy & Operations collaborates closely with Digital leaders in Product, Analytics, User Experience, and Site Merchandising, as well as partners in Finance, Marketing, Merchandising, Supply Chain, and Technology.

Requirements

  • Strategic Thinking & Vision Development – Ability to translate complex business challenges into actionable strategies and long-term digital vision.
  • Executive Communication – Exceptional storytelling and presentation skills, with proven experience crafting compelling narratives for C-suite and board-level audiences.
  • Analytical Rigor – Strong data literacy and analytical capability, including advanced proficiency in Excel, to derive insights, compute metrics (rates, ratios, probabilities, statistical inference), and guide decision-making.
  • Change Leadership – Demonstrated experience driving organizational, cultural, and operational change across large, complex organizations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Skilled at building strong partnerships across functions to align on priorities and deliver results.
  • Business Acumen – Deep understanding of digital retail dynamics, enterprise strategy, and industry trends to shape growth and margin initiatives.
  • Organizational Effectiveness – Ability to assess and improve organizational structures, processes, and mechanisms to enhance performance and accountability.
  • Project & Priority Management – Proven ability to manage multiple high-stakes priorities in a fast-paced environment with urgency and precision.
  • Interpersonal Influence – Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment at all organizational levels.
  • Confidentiality & Discretion – Trusted to handle sensitive company information with professionalism and integrity.
  • Technical Proficiency – High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with particular expertise in developing executive-ready deliverables.
  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • 2+ years of experience in management consulting, strategy, or digital retail, with exposure to executive-level communications.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision Development
  • Own and evolve Macy’s long-term Digital vision in partnership with leaders across Customer, Marketing, and other enterprise functions.
  • Lead strategy development for priority growth and margin initiatives (e.g., top customer segments, regional focus, marketplace expansion).
  • Conduct diagnostics and analyses to inform strategic priorities.
  • Executive & Board-Level Communications
  • Serve as the primary partner for board updates and earnings preparations.
  • Create compelling, data-driven narratives for C-suite and board-level presentations.
  • Lead planning and execution of enterprise-wide communications.
  • Operational Excellence & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Oversee day-to-day Digital business operations, ensuring alignment, accountability, and timely issue resolution across teams.
  • Define and implement business mechanisms to evaluate performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
