About The Position

The Senior Director, Patient Support Services collaborates on strategic planning, developing goals and objectives, and priority setting for areas of responsibility that support care management, utilization review and patient transitions. Accountability for developing and establishing a strategic vision and implementing initiatives that achieve optimal patient support across the care continuum. Assumes 24-hour accountability for the delivery of professional care and the allocation of resources for the assigned areas of responsibility. Partners with multidisciplinary teams and is responsible for patient care management and utilization review metrics, productivity/outcome measures, and adherence to professional practice standards for appropriate roles. The Senior Director, Patient Support Services will cultivate and sustain a culture that embraces and exemplifies professional practice, the development of future leaders and leadership excellence. Accountable for the planning, development, provision, and continuous improvement of all services within case management (care management, utilization review, social work, SCAN), patient support (school, play therapy and creative arts, child life, translation services), and guest services (cultural navigation, food security, family resource center, car seat program). This position is open to those with a Master's in Nursing, Social Work, Business Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field. (Candidates currently enrolled in a Master’s program or higher will be considered provided they also possess a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.) Requirements

  • Master’s in Social Work, Business Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field (Candidates currently enrolled in a Master’s program or higher will be considered provided they also possess a Bachelor's degree in related field. Must complete the program within three (3) years in position and maintain solid performance).
  • Minimum five (5) years of leadership experience in a health care setting.
  • If Master's in Social Work, current Washington State Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).
  • For RN: Required Education and Experience Master’s or higher in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing; may be substituted with a Master's in Business Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field provided the candidate also possesses a Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing (Candidates currently enrolled in a Master’s program or higher will be considered provided they also possess a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Must complete the program within three (3) years in position and maintain solid performance.
  • Minimum five (5) years of leadership experience in a health care setting.
  • Current Washington State or Multistate (MSL) RN license.
  • Must obtain national certification in a clinical specialty area or leadership within three (3) years.
  • A copy of Master's degree or higher in Nursing or transcripts indicating attainment of a Master's degree or higher in nursing is to be on record with Human Resources upon hire. If Master's degree is in Business Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field, a copy of the degrees or transcripts indicating attainment of a Master's degree or higher and Bachelor's in Nursing degree is to be on record with Human Resources upon hire. If a Master's degree or higher is in process, a copy of the Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing or transcripts indicating attainment of a Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing and a notation of the expected Master's completion date is to be on file with Human Resources upon hire.
  • Nursing or healthcare related professional board certification in a clinical specialty area or leadership on hire or must be obtained within three (3) years of hire and must be maintained thereafter. Certification must be recognized by the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) and approved by Seattle Children's.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers. This is a condition of hire and must be maintained at all times. Pediatric Emergency, Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Providers. (Note: Employees are responsible for any costs (including time away from work) associated with obtaining PALS or PEARS certification if it is not a requirement of the position). ACLS will not be accepted as a substitute to the requirements listed above.
