About The Position

Darigold is seeking an experienced & motivated Senior Director, Quality – B2C to join our leadership team. The Senior Director, Quality – B2C is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of Darigold food safety and quality systems across the B2C organization. The B2C production facility Quality Managers report indirectly to this position. Darigold is the fifth largest dairy cooperative in the United States based on milk volume and one of the largest privately held organizations headquartered in the state of Washington. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Food/Dairy Science, Microbiology, or closely related discipline required.
  • 15+ years of experience in food industry manufacturing, innovation, food safety and quality assurance, preferably including co-manufacturing relationships.
  • Practical experience in food microbiology and food pathogen control.
  • Experience working in HACCP and FSMA controlled food processing systems, including certification as a PCQI.
  • Experience in food plant sanitation and cleaning.
  • Experience in dairy processing or highly preferred.
  • Will travels50% of the time. Primary location at home office in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Able to successfully work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel to each manufacturing plant location.
  • Ability to facilitate implementation of corporate food safety systems in a positive and proactive manner.

Responsibilities

  • Leads all aspects of the company’s QA and Food Safety programs.
  • Updates, maintains and ensures production facility compliance with Darigold’s Quality Manual.
  • Updates, maintains and ensures production facility compliance with Darigold’s Food Safety Plan.
  • Ensures Darigold’s compliance with applicable regulatory requirements including: Food Safety Modernization Act Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act Pasteurized Milk Ordinance Other applicable FDA/USDA/State/Local regulatory requirements
  • Oversees quality and technical support for Darigold’s large food service, retail and chain customers.
  • Regularly reports Quality Measures to the Operations group.
  • Oversees the development and updating of Darigold’s product specifications.
  • Acts as subject matter expert in food safety and quality at the executive level.
  • Acts as an advocate for food safety and quality at the executive level.
  • Ensures plants meet goals set forth in the Quality and Food Safety Scorecard and work with manufacturing sites to implement process improvements to address results not meeting goals.
  • Ensures compliance to Darigold policies by conducting annual internal audits (quality systems, food safety and laboratory) of each manufacturing facility.
  • Ensures manufacturing sites complete corrective actions per agreed upon timing.
  • Oversees Darigold’s GFSI audit program and ensures each facility successfully completes the annual assessment audit.
  • From a corporate level, ensures production facilities conduct required food safety and quality training.
  • Develops and manages the expense budget for corporate quality staff.
  • Establishes strong working relationships with Site Leaders and QA Managers which includes holding them accountable to meet Darigold quality and food safety standards, offering support to address issues and drive improvement and providing coaching and support to QA Managers to support meeting expectations and to further their development.
  • Oversees management of Quality IT systems including: Batcher LIMS Product specification Product traceability (Oracle 11i)
  • Oversees customer complaints and trends and works with manufacturing sites to implement process improvements to address trends.
  • Develops and manages key metrics of quality and food safety performance.
  • Oversees and manages change control processes as they relate to quality and food safety.
  • Ability to exercise continuous leadership to focus Division quality assurance efforts on priorities while ensuring attention towards safety, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Provide food safety and quality guidance to other functional areas (e.g. Sales, Engineering, Product Development, etc.).
  • Support Sales/Marketing with new item set-up and certificates/technical documents.
  • Other duties as directed by the COO.
