Senior Distribution Design Engineer
About The Position
Apply now to join our Charlotte team as a Sr. Design Engineer, leading overhead and underground distribution projects from concept to completion. You’ll perform and support field noting, develop construction prints, prepare budget estimates (Maximo/BOUD), and ensure quality through QA/QC. This role also includes structural analysis of distribution poles while collaborating with the team to deliver reliable, high-quality designs. What You'll Do: Apply your technical expertise to develop high-quality designs that meet project specifications and client requirements. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to understand project goals and design details. Communicate project risks or challenges related to scope, schedule, cost, and quality. Partner with Designers and Drafters to produce complete and accurate design packages. Contribute to engineering designs through calculations, drawings, and technical analysis. Lead design efforts on smaller projects and support complex engineering initiatives. Ensure designs comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations. Communicate clearly and professionally with team members, clients, and vendors. Help coordinate design tasks and support the development of design team members. Maintain quality by following company and client procedures and performing thorough self-reviews. Support field activities and other project needs as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in electrical distribution
- Knowledge of BOUD, Maximo, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
- Strong work ethic with a desire to work in a production environment
Nice To Haves
- QA/QC experience is highly desired
