About The Position

Analytica is seeking a Senior Economist to support one or more dynamic, long-term federal government regulatory programs. The Senior Economist will lead the economic evaluation of proposed federal safety regulations, developing complex benefit/cost models and conducting comprehensive market analyses. This role is pivotal in providing expert insights to high-level decision-makers, evaluating the financial health of industry firms, and providing expert testimony in legal proceedings related to regulatory actions. Requirements

  • Regulatory Expertise: 10+ years conducting complex cost-benefit analyses and regulatory evaluations for federal or state agencies, including the development of robust, repeatable economic models.
  • Specialized Safety Analysis: 3+ years evaluating the effectiveness of health/safety interventions and estimating the tangible and non-tangible impacts of non-fatal injuries using medical expenditure and survey data.
  • Field Research & Standards: 3+ years conducting technical interviews with industry executives and subject matter experts, with specific experience reviewing mandatory or voluntary product standards.
  • Project Leadership: Extensive experience managing large-scale analytical projects characterized by high levels of data uncertainty and significant public policy impact.
  • US citizen with Ability to secure a US Federal Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Cloud-Native Economics: 3+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying economic models using Python within an Azure cloud environment.
  • Advanced Data Manipulation: Mastery of SQL for querying disparate datasets and expert-level MS Excel proficiency (arrays, financial, and statistical modeling).
  • Modern Tooling: Familiarity with leveraging Machine Learning and automated data-gathering tools to assess market health and industry-wide competitive impacts.

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Modeling: Develop robust statistical and regression models to evaluate the impact of proposed federal rules and standards.
  • Cost-Benefit Analysis: Conduct high-level data analyses to build repeatable benefit/cost models for regulatory evaluations.
  • Market Intelligence: Synthesize large volumes of industry data for public and private firms to assess market health and competitive impacts.
  • Advanced Analytics: Leverage Python, SQL, and Machine Learning to extract maximum value from existing large-scale datasets.
  • Safety Evaluation: Review medical expenditure and survey data to determine the effectiveness of health and safety interventions.
  • Expert Consultation: Conduct technical interviews with industry executives and subject matter experts to inform economic research.
  • Litigation Support: Provide expert testimony and detailed uncertainty assessments for research used in regulatory legal proceedings.
  • Project Leadership: Lead complex analytical projects characterized by high levels of public impact and data uncertainty.
