About The Position

Botanic Tonics is seeking a highly experienced Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to design, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive EHS program across our Tulsa manufacturing and distribution operations. This role will serve as the site’s primary subject matter expert for environmental, health, and safety, responsible for establishing scalable programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a proactive safety culture across all functions. The Senior EHS Specialist will partner closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Leadership to build systems that protect employees, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the company’s rapid operational growth. This individual will play a critical role in transitioning the organization from a reactive safety model to a best-in-class proactive safety and environmental management program. This role requires someone comfortable building programs from the ground up, influencing cross-functional leaders, and driving accountability across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing, food & beverage, CPG, or industrial operations.
  • Demonstrated experience building or significantly improving an EHS program within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of: OSHA regulations EPA environmental requirements Industrial safety practices Incident investigation and root cause analysis
  • Proven ability to influence leadership and drive safety culture across a multi-functional organization.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and training skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in food or beverage manufacturing environments.
  • Professional certifications such as: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) OSHA 30-Hour Certification
  • Experience supporting SQF, BRC, or other food safety audit frameworks.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) management system aligned with OSHA, EPA, FDA, and applicable state and local regulations.
  • Develop and standardize site safety policies, procedures, and training programs to support manufacturing and distribution operations.
  • Establish scalable EHS governance frameworks, including safety committees, reporting structures, and accountability mechanisms.
  • Serve as the site’s EHS subject matter expert, advising leadership on risk mitigation, compliance strategy, and operational best practices.
  • Build and manage systems to track key safety metrics including TRIR, DART, near misses, and leading indicators.
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, FDA, and state environmental regulations, including recordkeeping, reporting, and regulatory inspections.
  • Develop and maintain required compliance programs such as: Hazard Communication Lockout/Tagout Machine Guarding Respiratory Protection Confined Space Chemical Management Emergency Action Plans
  • Manage OSHA reporting requirements including OSHA 300 logs, incident reporting, and compliance documentation.
  • Lead regulatory inspections and serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and auditors.
  • Lead investigations of workplace incidents, injuries, and near misses using root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Develop and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to mitigate future risks.
  • Establish proactive programs to identify hazards through regular audits, risk assessments, and safety observations.
  • Track incident trends and implement improvement initiatives to reduce risk and improve workplace safety.
  • Drive a culture of safety ownership and accountability across all levels of the organization.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs including: New hire safety orientation PPE training Emergency response Equipment safety Job hazard analysis training
  • Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety committee initiatives.
  • Partner with managers to ensure safety expectations are embedded in daily operations.
  • Manage environmental compliance programs related to chemical handling, waste management, and environmental reporting.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintain environmental documentation and reporting required by EPA and state agencies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance and sustainability within operations.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance and Operations to ensure alignment between EHS programs and food safety standards, including HACCP, GMPs, and sanitation protocols.
  • Support sanitation chemical safety programs and safe handling practices.
  • Assist with regulatory and third-party audits related to safety and sanitation programs.
  • Implement data-driven initiatives to reduce workplace risks and improve operational safety performance.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve safety efficiency, ergonomics, and workplace design.
  • Benchmark industry best practices and introduce improvements that support operational scale.
