About The Position

Eaton's Electrical Critical Power Solutions Division is currently seeking a Senior Magnetics Engineer to join our team in Richmond, VA. Relocation benefits will be provided within the United States only. The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year. The Senior Magnetics Engineer will support the design of dry-type transformers. This role involves being an essential member of a cross-functional product development team and making design decisions to ensure seamless integration. Eaton’s Electrical Critical Power Solutions Division designs, manufactures, and services Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, batteries, and electronic-based products to ensure power reliability in the most demanding applications. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in design and testing of transformers; OR a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of one (1) year work experience in design and testing of transformers
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
  • Candidate must reside within the US to be considered, and currently in, or open to relocation to the Richmond, VA area

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Experience in design and testing of low voltage dry-type transformers
  • Familiarity with mechanical design software such as Inventor or SolidWorks
  • Experience in the design and successful manufacture of single and three phase dry-type low-voltage or similar transformers and/or reactors
  • UL, IEEE, NEC, and NEMA standards familiarity.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and how they apply to our products, including practice in design verification and validation

Responsibilities

  • Design low voltage dry-type transformers 100 KvA- 3000KvA up to 600 volts and related assemblies of various complexity.
  • Collaborate with Electrical and Mechanical Engineers to identify relevant industry standards and compliance requirements impacting product design.
  • Support product certification planning and testing process and support relevant Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs).
  • Collaborate on design and implementation of engineering repository structure and Standard Operating Procedures for transformer/magnetics design including verification and validation.
  • Support Production during cost/design for manufacturing analysis (DFMEA / DFSS).
  • Work collaboratively with Manufacturing Engineers to optimize assembly and testing processes.
  • Continuously update your knowledge by staying current with all relevant UL, IEEE, IEC, CSA, and DOE standards.
