The Group, composed of more than 800 employees, operatesrenewable assets with an installed capacity of over 3 GW and is developing a project portfolio of 6.8 GW in wind, solar, and energy storage. ⚡ You will play an important role in: Reporting to the Team Leader in the Electrical Engineering Operations team, you will play a key role in supporting Boralex’s operational excellence and long-term asset performance. Your main responsibilities will include:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in the province of Ontario
  • 6+ years of experience in:
  • High-voltage stations and equipment
  • Protection and control
  • Strong hands-on and onsite experience
  • Proficiency working with typical drawings and schematics (Oneline, AC, DC, Logic, Telecom.)
  • Working knowledge of applicable technical and reliability standards (NERC, IEEE, CSA, ANSI-NETA)
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Valid driver’s license and passport, with availability for occasional travel (up to ~20%)
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness, autonomy, and problem-solving ability

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in renewable energy operations (Wind, Solar, BESS, Hydro)
  • Basic understanding of spoken French
  • Solid understanding of the Ontario market and regulatory framework (HONI, IESO)
  • Experience with power system modeling and simulation tools (e.g., EasyPower, ETAP, EMT)
  • Programming or configuration experience with protection and control devices such as:
  • AcSELerator (SEL)
  • EnerVista, Kelman (GE)
  • SynchroTeq (Vizimax)
  • Tapcon (MR)
  • IEC-61850 Standard and protocols (MMS, SV, GOOSE)

Responsibilities

  • Promote and embody Boralex’s occupational health and safety culture, ensuring best practices are applied across all activities.
  • Lead complex technical projects from concept to commissioning, including:
  • Corrective and preventive shutdowns
  • Major electrical equipment and fleet modernization initiatives
  • System improvements, optimization, and reliability enhancements
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to site teams for the collector, substation, and interconnection systems.
  • Coordinate external vendors, consultants, and internal remote teams within a matrix organizational structure.
  • Contribute to industry knowledge and innovation by participating in conferences, webinars, and technical training as part of a continuous technology watch.
  • Collaborate with Greenfield development and construction teams to deliver projects that meet Boralex standards for safety, quality, and performance.
