About The Position

The Senior Electrical Estimator is responsible for leading the development of comprehensive and competitive cost estimates for large‑scale commercial construction projects. This role requires advanced technical expertise and the ability to manage complex preconstruction efforts. The Senior Electrical Estimator provides strategic guidance to leadership, mentors junior estimators, and ensures all estimates align with organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience as an Electrical Estimator in commercial construction, with a background in union labor environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, installation methods, and applicable codes.
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex estimates and manage multiple concurrent pursuits.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with large commercial projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the estimating process for major commercial projects, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with union labor standards.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to estimating staff.
  • Evaluate project risks, schedule impacts, and constructability considerations at a senior level.
  • Interpret complex electrical drawings, specifications, and contract documents for large commercial projects.
  • Prepare detailed labor and material takeoffs, crew compositions, and productivity factors.
  • Develop full project estimates including direct costs, indirect costs, general conditions, allowances, and contingencies.
  • Analyze design alternatives and value‑engineering opportunities to support client and company objectives.
  • Maintain and refine historical cost data, benchmarking information, and market pricing trends.
  • Apply knowledge of IBEW and other applicable union agreements, including wage rates, classifications, shift rules, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal field leadership and project management to ensure estimates reflect accurate labor strategies.
  • Evaluate labor impacts related to project phasing, site logistics, and schedule constraints.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of bid proposals for negotiated and hard‑bid opportunities.
  • Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations for scope alignment and compliance.
  • Participate in pre‑bid meetings, site walks, and client presentations as a senior representative of the estimating team.
  • Ensure all clarifications, assumptions, inclusions, and exclusions are thoroughly documented.
  • Support project teams during buyout, budgeting, and change order pricing.
  • Provide senior‑level cost analysis and technical insight throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and best practices.
