Right now, our Combat Mission Systems team in Sterling Heights is hiring Senior Embedded Software Engineers excited about real-time, embedded software development. We have multiple openings for individuals with experience and a passion for real-time, embedded software development. The Senior Embedded Software Engineer plans, leads, and performs a variety of tasks across the areas of software requirements analysis, software architecture and design, implementation (code and unit test), cybersecurity hardening, documentation, hardware-software integration, troubleshooting, problem solving, and software verification testing.   • Plans, leads, and executes efforts to architect, design, develop, maintain, upgrade, port, and verify/qualify embedded product software and/or product support software to enhance, implement, and support project/system functionality.
  • Mentors less-experienced software engineers to help develop their software development and test capabilities and troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborates across the other engineering disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, controls, systems, testing, and cybersecurity.
  • Ensures that the technical approach is consistent with established engineering principles and practices.
  • Ensures that cost and schedule targets are met, product outcomes meet customer needs, and customer/company technical, system, performance, process, and quality requirements are met.
  • Travels domestically 10-20%.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM field
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience
  • Real-time embedded software development experience with Linux, ThreadX, and/or bare metal
  • Strong skills in C++
  • Experience with application development utilizing communication protocols such as Ethernet and serial
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written) are a MUST with customer interface/liaison experience
  • May consider candidates with fewer years of experience for a more junior role or additional experience for a more senior role
