A day in the life Start by scanning overnight KPIs across warehousing, transportation, import/export, and co‑packing to balance service and cost for multiple routes‑to‑market. Align with 3PL partners to fine‑tune capacity, scheduling, and quality, keeping health & safety, food defense, and legal requirements front and center. Run the monthly Integrated Business Planning (IBP) cycle for materials and product supply—driving cycling strategies and flexible scheduling across the cluster. Coach leaders in Integrated Lean Six Sigma (IL6S), initially centered on the Chicago Bakery, to build one integrated, capability‑rich team. Advance continuous improvement initiatives that tighten governance, reduce logistics costs, and cut our carbon footprint—without compromising service levels. Steward the function’s annual capital plan and budget (AC plan), ensuring flawless execution and adherence to internal and external compliance standards. Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses for product supply and materials events; apply PDCA rigor and lock in preventive actions. Champion best‑practice sharing across bakeries, build a strong external network, and provide expertise for new projects and change initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 10+ years leading teams (union environment experience preferred), with a solid track record in FMCG/CPG logistics operations.
  • Hands‑on manufacturing experience and functional depth in Product Supply and Materials Management (including project management).
  • Proven ability to build teams, influence stakeholders, and negotiate effectively internally and with 3PLs.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business/financial acumen, results orientation, and excellent communication skills.
  • Managerial courage, conflict management, and disciplined project/program leadership.
  • Proficiency in Food and Beverage Manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Own end‑to-end logistics execution: warehouses, transportation, international logistics (import/export), and co-packing.
  • Deliver the business plan through consistent service, agile adaptation to customer needs, and capacity planning.
  • Manage logistics operational budgets with best‑in-class controls and governance.
  • Establish and maintain a business continuity plan for logistics operations.
  • Select, manage, and develop long‑term partnerships with third-party service providers.
  • Oversee cluster‑wide materials management programs and integration so bakeries operate as one coordinated cluster.
  • Define performance standards for product supply and materials teams; set KPIs, review results, and close gaps via PDCA.
  • Ensure training and coaching programs are in place, including an annual training plan for all employees in the cluster.
