Summary Leads commercial origination and acquisition of utility-scale energy and capacity and transmission resources to advance PGE’s Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), reliability, affordability, and clean energy objectives. This role is accountable for structuring, negotiating, and closing complex transactions—including PPAs, Storage Capacity Agreements (SCAs), tolling arrangements, Build-Transfer Agreements (BTAs), and other hybrid commercial constructs—for wind, solar, storage, firming, and transmission resources. The position operates at the intersection of commercial strategy, resource planning, regulatory strategy, transmission development, and finance, translating portfolio needs into executable transactions that balance customer price impacts, risk allocation, and regulatory recoverability.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, computer science, mathematics, engineering or other related field or equivalent experience.
  • Typically eight or more years in the energy industry or related field and/or related experience working autonomously making decisions in outbound facing tasks and delivering outcomes.
  • Intermediate knowledge of financial concepts, including options, swaps, futures, forward contracts and asset valuation methods

Responsibilities

  • Energy/Risk Management Products and Strategies Designs, markets and implements structured energy and risk management products and strategies to reduce costs, optimize assets and reduce risks associated with PGE's resource portfolio and wholesale market activities; ensures risks and benefits of structured products are identified, priced and allocated.
  • New Energy Resources Contracting Evaluates and negotiates transactions to acquire new energy resources, contracts and infrastructure; supports the competitive bidding process and other procurement activities to acquire long-term resources; ensures that contract terms and conditions meet PGE's commercial, operational and risk-mitigation requirements.
  • Market Analysis Identifies and assesses potential changing market dynamics or fundamental drivers that could impact price or availability of fuel and related assets.
  • Outbound Marketing Conducts outbound marketing to develop positive commercial relationships and opportunities with counterparties in the wholesale energy markets; identifies opportunities for bilateral partnerships, contracts and asset transactions.
  • External Relations Represents PGE in the wholesale markets; participates in industry forums and conferences; represents PGE’s interests in regulatory and rate case proceedings.
