About The Position

As a Senior Engineer in Automation, you will be responsible for hands-on Automation & Controls supporting a live health and nutrition manufacturing plant, focused on troubleshooting, reliability, and small-to-medium automation improvements. The engineer will work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering to improve control system performance & sustainability. At dsm-firmenich people are at the heart of the company. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, industrial, mechanical engineering (or related technical discipline) required.
  • 4-8 years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.
  • Strong PLC and/or DCS experience (Emerson DeltaV experience is a plus, but not required)
  • Comfortable troubleshooting live production systems under real-world constraints
  • Background in batch or continuous process manufacturing (pharma, chemicals, food, or similar regulated environments preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Support plant operations by troubleshooting automation, instrumentation, and control issues.
  • Own small-to-medium automation improvements from concept through implementation.
  • Improve reliability, standardization, and documentation of control systems.
  • Work closely with process engineers, maintenance, IT/OT, and operators.
  • Reduce reliance on external contractors by building in-house capability.
  • Other duties assigned by Belvidere leadership.
