About The Position

The Senior Engineer works under the direction of Principal Engineers and serves as a technical and project leader responsible for managing complex civil engineering projects from planning through construction. This role integrates technical expertise, project management, leadership, and client engagement. Focusing on project delivery and coordination, this role will grow into a business development and employee management position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university (required).
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license (required).
  • Progressive experience delivering infrastructure or land development projects.
  • Experience with project management and client coordination preferred.
  • 12+ years of engineering experience and with at least 1 year proven employee management experience, client management is a plus.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil design and plan production.
  • Experience with grading, utilities, and infrastructure design.
  • Knowledge of construction management and inspection practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with water, sewer, and storm drainage modeling software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project planning, scope development, scheduling, and execution for public infrastructure and private development projects.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and performance to ensure successful delivery.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including engineering, surveying, and subconsultants.
  • Prepare and review plans, specifications, and cost estimates (PS&E).
  • Design and oversee civil improvements including roadways, grading, utilities, storm drainage, and site development.
  • Provide utility coordination and conflict resolution during design and construction.
  • Support construction-phase services including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and field coordination.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships with public agencies and private-sector clients.
  • Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates.
  • Mentor engineers and technical staff, providing leadership and quality oversight.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, serve as primary client contact, and contribute to business development initiatives.
