About The Position

STV currently has an opening in our Richmond, VA office for a Senior Engineering Operations Manager in our Rail and Transit Group. You will manage a team of engineers to complete a wide variety of rail and transit design projects. Our specialized group in Virginia is involved in the design of all types of rail and transit projects including the following: Light Rail Commuter Rail Intercity Passenger Rail Bus Rapid Transit Local Bus Improvements Maintenance facilities for rail and transit vehicles, including diesel/hybrid trains, zero-emission buses and maintenance-of-way vehicles You will have the opportunity to: Perform and quality check design criteria, roadway/track geometry, grading, and other infrastructure and site work Supervise junior engineer design activities Organize cross discipline coordination and constructability reviews Conduct and document client meetings Conduct field investigations to support designs Interact with clients on a regular basis Perform research, planning studies, and design concept studies Support designs for Vision Zero and other traffic-related improvements Estimate costs and conceptualize project phasing to work with available funding Support the Client Service Teams in identifying opportunities, leading proposal efforts, and maintaining client relationships; represent STV at industry events through attendance or participation in professional organizations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • PE license required
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in design and management of roadway, transit, and/or track design projects, with desire to learn about the complexities of rail and transit projects if currently inexperienced in that arena
  • Experience developing schedules, task lists and managing staff to complete milestones on time
  • Ability to mentor less experienced staff
  • Experience with MicroStation required, OpenRoads/OpenRail Designer preferred

Responsibilities
