The position of Senior Environmental Health Risk Assessor is within the Division of Environmental Health's Toxicology Group. It is an exciting position to impact public health work in Vermont by overseeing a wide breadth of environmental toxicology and human health risk assessment issues for the Department of Health. This position is the State's scientific expert in chemical human health risk assessment. This position works with the State Toxicologist and technical staff to develop health-based risk levels for chemicals in air, water, soil and food. The position provides guidance to the public and partner organizations on the human health effects associated with these chemicals. The individual may work on topics such as determining acceptable risk levels for volatile chemicals in indoor air, providing or critically reviewing human health risk assessments for contaminated sites, advising on health-based levels for PFAS and other contaminants in drinking water, responding to chemical emergencies, reviewing applications for pesticide use and developing advisories for fish consumption. The position may serve on committees such as the Fish Contaminant Monitoring Committee (FCMC) or the Agriculture Innovation Board. This is a hybrid work position, requiring 3 days/week in the office which is located in Waterbury, Vermont.
