About The Position

EnSafe is currently seeking a full-time Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Professional to join our Long Beach or San Diego, CA office. Candidates must be willing to work at one of the offices listed. Relocation assistance is available to meet this expectation. We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Professional to lead client engagements, expand EnSafe’ s consulting services, and drive business growth. In this role, you will conduct audits, develop and implement H&S programs, establish management platforms, and provide client training, leveraging your deep technical expertise in environmental, health, and safety compliance. The ideal candidate will bring an established client network and a proven track record of generating revenue through existing relationships. Based in Southern California (Long Beach or San Diego), this is an exciting opportunity to lead diverse projects, make a tangible impact across industries, and grow professionally with EnSafe.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive H&S and/or Industrial Hygiene experience, ideally including consulting experience.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) required but can be offset by applicable experience.
  • A “seller-doer” with a proven track record in business development.
  • A business mindset, supporting corporate goals of growing revenue, maintaining profitability, and sustaining utilization through billable hours while successfully managing multiple projects and personnel.
  • Project management experience, including developing scopes of work, cost proposals, schedules, and managing multiple project teams simultaneously.
  • Strong technical writing skills; able to produce concise reports, including technical data review and analysis.
  • Strong consulting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and client-facing skills.
  • Experience supporting industries such as shipyards, manufacturing, chemical processing, construction, food production, automotive, oil & gas, pulp & paper, power generation, aerospace, petroleum, and railroads.
  • Willingness to travel overnight (up to 50%) to develop client relationships and meet role responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex environmental health & safety projects across various industries and/or public sectors.
  • Provide expert guidance on environmental health and safety standards with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements (CalOSHA, CalEPA, state environmental agencies, etc.).
  • Conduct EHS audits, inspections, risk assessments, and compliance evaluations.
  • Machine guarding, lockout tagout, confined space risk, JHA/PPE hazard assessments, etc.
  • Develop and implement EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor to clients and internal teams.
  • Work alongside and collaborate with other EnSafe Certified Safety Professionals to serve clients across the U.S.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Utilize an established book of business while continuing to grow client relationships that generate consistent revenue.
  • Support EnSafe’ s H&S marketing efforts within Southern CA, and across the U.S.
  • Expand services within existing client accounts.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Actively participate in business development, including proposal writing, scope development, and client presentations.
  • Manage client relationships and provide ongoing technical advisory support.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical oversight.
  • Contribute to strategic growth planning for EHS services.
  • Maintain high client satisfaction and long-term relationships.
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to company standards.
