Perform advanced failure analysis of Collins Aerospace products in our world-class Collins Aerospace Product Improvement Lab (PIL). Work individually and with other PI Lab team members to drive continuous improvement in aerospace design and manufacturing. What You Will Do: Provide and develop technical leadership during investigative analysis of Collins Aerospace technology and products. Apply scientific theory and successfully exercise problem solving judgment while utilizing our laboratory’s destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT) capabilities including but not limited to: Variable Pressure Scanning Electron Microscope Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectrometer (EDX) X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Spectrometer Fourier Transform Infrared & RAMAN Spectrometer (FTIR) Real-time Micro-focus X-ray / Digital Radiography (DR) Computed Tomography X-ray Imaging (CT) Optical Microscopy / Digital Imaging / Digital Microscope Ultrasonic-Based Thickness Testing Optical Coordinate Measuring System Material Microstructure Interpretation & Fracture Analysis Collaborate with other experienced metallurgical, electrical and NDT staff. Determine failure root cause(s) and provide recommendations to key stakeholders. Capture investigation results and recommendations in high quality engineering reports. Provide guidance and expertise to help engineers design and produce high quality, highly reliable aerospace sensors and systems.
