Position Summary: The Senior Financial Analyst will report to Illumina’s Financial Planning & Analysis team located at corporate headquarters – San Diego, California. The successful candidate will support the development, interpretation, and implementation of financial concepts for financial planning and control. Perform technical analysis to support the evaluation of present and future financial performance. Gather, analyze, prepare, and summarize analysis and insights for financial plans, acquisition activity, and operating forecasts. Utilize strong business acumen, financial expertise, and solid communication to become an effective partner within the organization. This is a full-time role, Monday through Friday, with an expectation of 2- 3 in-office days per week and additional on-site presence as needed. The individual must reside in the San Diego area and be able to commute to our corporate offices.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience
  • BS or BA in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Advanced expertise in SAP, TM1, Cognos, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Fluent knowledge of the main elements and drivers of income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flow
  • Proven ability to evaluate and solve complex problems and understand the business implications of different approaches
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional interpersonal soft skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across the organization
  • Superb written communication and project management skills
  • Commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting multiple goals or deadlines
  • Able to work independently with appropriate guidance and collectively in a team environment
  • Demonstrates initiative and growing ownership within assigned responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial modeling, analytics, and general internal Corporate Finance support to the Proteomics organization
  • Review operating expenses, capital expenditures, and headcount/resourcing to understand variances and improve future forecasts
  • Support the development of monthly and quarterly packages to be utilized for financial management reporting, including variance explanations, forecast updates, scenario building and other analyses
  • Assist in the development of the long-range forecast, annual operating plan (budget) and support monthly and quarterly forecast updates
  • Assist in the monthly/quarter-end close process by reviewing open purchase orders and coordinating with various business partners to estimate incurred expenses to form forecast updates
  • Utilize financial systems to complete tasks (i.e. Cognos TM1, Cognos BI, and SAP)
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of Illumina’s technologies, products and market segments
  • Support financial modeling for new investment opportunities, analytics, and general internal Finance support to the Proteomics organization
  • Provide analysis and consolidated information to the Enterprise FP&A team to support Board of Directors decks, corporate performance reports, cost savings initiatives, and dashboards
